Demons (Demoni), the 1985 film by Lamberto Bava and Dario Argento. So bad yet so good.
How is it possible this movie escaped me for so long? What’s not to like? Let’s see, we got:
- People running around the theater, up and down the same flight of steps, yet arriving in different locations.
- A bitch-slappin pimp.
- Gross close-up of demonic transformation.
- Odd juxtaposition using a Rick Springfield song.
- Random helicopter crash.
- Random motorcycle. I never would have guessed that motorcycle in the lobby actually worked.
- Samurai sword. I did guess that the samurai sword would be used at some point. I did not know it would be used in glorious conjunction with the motorcycle. Kudos.
Not much made sense. In fact, the demons acted pretty much like zombies, which is very upsetting to the Demonic Defamation League.
Not crap. (I mean, yeah, it’s crappy, but did you not read the part about wielding a samurai sword on a motorcycle? In a movie theater? Fighting demons?)
