Dawn of the Dead. 2004. Not George Romero, but still awesome.
On Frank’s prodding, I finally saw the Dawn of the Dead remake. I liked the original Romero classic but expected very little out of this redo. “Blah, blah, blah,” Frank encouraged as I tuned him out. I figured this would just be another low-rent gore factory. Frank kept saying how awesome it was, so I finally borrowed it. Who am I to question Frank’s wisdom? Dawn of the Dead was 10x better than anything I could have possibly wanted. It was surprisingly good. I also felt tricked as I expected a horror movie with action but instead got an action movie with a little horror.
Good stuff all around. The scene with the buses surrounded by a massed crush of zombies was spectacular. Not crap.
